Providing online or phone sessions

Over the last ten years I have had the pleasure of connecting and working collaboratively with clients to help them achieve their goals, improve their personal capacity, and reduce pain and suffering in their lives and the lives of their families. I truly believe people are doing the best they can with the resources they have in the present moment. My approach is rooted in helping you come up with your own solutions, and address barriers to accessing new resources. Part of my work is to help clients understand the function of their emotions and deepen their understanding of what is going on for their nervous system and their body. Understanding how our bodies are responding to the world around us helps to inform the direction we need to move in to create meaningful and effective change in our lives.

Approach

It takes courage to begin therapy and healing. I utilize my background in DBT, CBT, and mindfulness-based approaches to help you build a life worth living and find meaning and purpose. I work collaboratively to support and create tools to help you cope and understand the impact of your emotions, thoughts, and sensations.

Area of Focus

Currently, I am passionate and dedicated to working with individuals in learning self-compassion and mindfulness based coping skills to help them sit with painful and difficult emotions. I have gained clinical experience working with young adults aged 18-35 who have been struggling with:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • racialized trauma
  • ADHD
  • eating disorders
  • addictions

I also have worked with parents and chosen families to provide therapy, and parenting support to help them better respond to themselves and others in a more effective and less judgmental manner.

Education

I am a Registered Social Worker and hold membership with OCSWSSW in good standing. My educational background includes a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and an Undergraduate degree in Arts and Humanities at University of Toronto.

Reaching out is not easy and we are not always sure where or how to start. If you would like to connect a little more to see if this is the right fit for you please feel free to set up a consultation with me.
